Meri Pyari Bindu Movie Reviews

Ratings:3/5 Review By:Nihit Bhave Site:TOI
The movie as a whole skirts the corny territory too. It’s the simplest rom-com plot: Boy meets girl. He climbs a tree into her room, childhood tricks turn into grown-up troubles and somewhere along the line, friendship jumps the fence.

Meri Pyaari Bindu is a whimsical look at youthful ambition and the urge for freedom. The lead characters nurture opposing approaches to life and yet they get along like a house on fire. The boy has an overly protective mother (Aparajita Auddy) who does not leave him alone for a second; the girl has an alcoholic armyman-father (Prakash Belawadi) whose irresponsible ways has tragic consequences. But they aren't moaners. They take the smooth with the rough without losing their cool.

The film’s popular track ‘Haareya Main Dil Haareya’ was missing from the film. The film's cinematography (Tushar Kanti Ray) is also average. The film’s editing (Shweta Venkat Mathew) definitely should have been razor sharp and crisper, more so towards the second half. Doing away with some of the unwanted scenes would’ve helped. On the whole, MERI PYAARI BINDU is a one-time watch which fails big time on account of its confused plot and convoluted screenplay. At the Box-Office, it will turn out to be an average fare. Disappointing.

What’s Good: Probably the music is the only saving grace in this film. What’s Bad: A weak script with little purpose or relevance. An overstretched climax too.Loo Break: Yes! Probably more than two!Watch or Not?: Passable. There’s nothing worth your time and money here.

Meri Pyaari Bindu is unfortunately not what you have been waiting for. It’s a love story but the love, frankly, eluded me. The film is all about childhood friendship and one-sided love; it has several references of recent movies as well as old Hindi songs yet it doesn’t really touch your heart. The film definitely makes you feel for Ayushmann and understand Bindu’s predicaments to an extent but the storytelling and humour could have had far more punch. I would say Meri Pyaari Bindu is more about friendship than love so don’t expect a love story here. Watch it only if you are a fan of the stars...

Fukrey Returns Movie Review

Ratings:2/5 Review By:Anupama Chopra Site:Filmcompanion About an hour into Fukrey Returns, Hunny, one of the four fukreys, solemnly declares – sabhi cheezen samajh aayen, yeh zaroori toh nahin. I felt like he was direct messaging me. Because honestly, I just didn’t get this film. And I don’t mean that I missed the sub-text or any over-arching philosophy. I actually couldn’t follow the plot. Fukrey Returns feels like a few good characters in search of a story. Actors Varun Sharma and Pankaj Tripathi get a few laugh out loud moments, but that apart, this sequel is foolish and exhausting. Ratings:2/5 Review By:Saibal Site:NDTV Fukrey Returns comes nowhere near being the rip-roaring ride that the 2013 sleeper hit Fukrey, at least in parts, was. Director Mrighdeep Singh Lamba and co-writer Vipul Vig, juggling with elements that have clearly lost their sheen, fail to rustle up anything that could be described as refreshing. The fact that the screenplay does not accord balanced treatmen...
